FARAH x YMC

In celebration of their 100 Year anniversary, Farah is delighted to announce a collaboration with YMC, one of the UK’s most significant menswear labels.

London based YMC’s directional, yet wearable designs are the brainchild of co-founder Fraser Moss, who brought his unique insight from the worlds of music, style and the arts to the fore during the creative process.

Farah is excited to announce our collaboration with YMC, one of the UK’s most significant menswear labels. London based YMC’s directional, yet wearable designs are the brainchild of co-founder Fraser Moss, who brought his unique insight from the worlds of music, style and the arts to the fore during the creative process.

The Jamaican influenced Rude Boy culture of the late 70’s which inspired the collection colours, resonated with Fraser: “Farah means lots of things to lots of people, but for me it was always rude boy. The sharpness of the classic trouser with the iconic yellow tab was everywhere at blues parties and sound clashes.”

The result is a contemporary take on rude-boy subculture, with select items from the Farah archive referenced throughout the 15 piece collection. The Ethiopian flag palette of red, gold and green with the inclusion of indigo lends vibrancy to striped shirts and polos. Farah’s archive is the inspiration for a crop hopsack trouser and tapered denim jeans, while a western shirt and sweatshirt are emblazoned with a triple star motif.

This unique collaboration is celebrated through the creative vision of artistic director Harris Elliot – known for his significant cultural contributions through the work of his exhibition and book, ‘Return of the Rudeboy’. His talent as a visual storyteller and experience of the two labels poised him perfectly to capture the spirit of this partnerships.
